Some thoughts from the Amp Project about Regeneration
Courtney from Miles Platting
"We thought our houses were coming down. Now they are not, they are going to be turned round, so our back door will become the front door and the front door will be the back door !!!"
Joshua Gallagher
"The regeneration of the area doesn't affect the house i live in, but i know that it will affect others who are forced to move from their home. I feel angry and frustrated that they are pulling down the Ancoats area. I think that with every brick they pull away, a piece of Ancoats History is lost."
Samantha Power
" The Amp Project is very good. It helped me to gain many qualifications that helped me to start an apprenticeship with Lovell. My apprenticeship will last for 2 years. I was on the Amp Project for five years and achieved quite a lot of qualifications and certificates, now i realy like my job and we need more girls in the building trade."
Joseph O'Kane
"The regeneration does not affect me here in Victoria Dwellings, but it has affected my daughter as she has to move house. I do believe thereis going to be some kind of place for the young people. They don't seem to have many places to go at the moment."
Since being interviewed Joseph sadly died, Aiden his grandson gave permission to use his words.
Ouestions put to the local community
Here are some of the comments and questions that people were asked:-
What do you think regeneration means ? not just about improvements to buildings but about anthing that improves the area and makes it a better place to live.
Did People know who Renaissance, Adactus and Lovell are and what the difference is between them ?
Does the local area need regenerating ?
Do they think that residents have a say in wheather the area needs regenerating and how it happens?
Where the residents consulted at every stage of the process
Whats the best thing about Miiles Platting ?
What needs to be changed, improved/ removed ?
What new things would they most like to see happen (things that would make the area better) ?
Did you know that you had a voice and make suggestions ?
If you have any thoughts or suggestions, please contact the magazine or post comments on the blogg !!!

Have Your Say With the Youth Action Project
About Have Your Say !!!
Have your say is a local magazine for Miles Platting and the surrounding areas. This group of local people producing this magazine decided to find out what the young people who attended the AMP Project think about the changes that are happening in the area due to regeneration and how this affected them.
Regeneration !!!
Renaissance group has been chosen to deiver the regeneration of the area in Miles Platting. The Group consist of both Lovell and Adactus working together, whom Lovell are national builders who will be refurbishing all the homes.
When the regeneration is complete Adactus will deal with the repairs, rent and re-housing as a housing association along with dealing with the anti-social behaviour and working with the local community.
The Youth Action Project has produced news articles, taken pictures, created drawings and interviewed people, (their families and friends) that will appear in the Have Your Say Magazine.
You can see these stories and articles by contacting the magazine and becoming a member.
